The tournament was founded by a few friends looking for a way to express their love for the great game of golf. The format for the tournament is 18 holes of stroke play with handicaps applied thereafter.* The maximum handicap is 18. Players with higher handicaps are certainly welcome but they may receive only 18 strokes. There are several local rules in effect for the tournament. Each player is afforded a “mulligan” on the first tee if that player is generally unsatisfied with their first tee shot. If the player elects to play a second shot, that player must play the second shot for the remainder of the hole. The mulligan rule applies to the first hole only. The other notable local rule is a maximum score on any given hole. This rule states that the maximum score on any hole is twice the par for that hole. These local rules have been adopted in the attempt to attain two goals. The first goal is for all participants to have an enjoyable round of golf. The second goal is to have a competitive tournament, with as many players involved in the action down to the wire.
*first-year competitors are not eligible for handicapping and must play at scratch to pay their dues and prove their worth.
